FSAE Suspension Rockers
Project Description
The suspension rockers are pieces of aluminum that hold the suspension mechanism to the car chassis on our EV race car. The rockers are first modeled a designed in SolidWorks whose shape is optimized via static FEA and topology optimization. Then the piece is machined from a 6061 aluminum plate using a CNC water jet.
Methods
-
Edited and helped optimize new suspension rocker design in SolidWorks considering suspension geometry
-
Tightened part dimensions for better performance
-
Manufactured the plate out of a 6061 aluminum plate using a CNC water jet
-
Assembled the rockers on the EV car
